Attention: Armor Modeling, Military and History Buffs
SLC-08 announces a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to visit one of the most unique private military vehicle collections in the world. Contest organizers have secured permission for a tour of a WWII military vehicle collection located near Salt Lake City and containing more than 100 restored vehicles, 99% of which are in running condition. This is not a "velvet rope" tour and visitors will be able to get eyeball to eyeball with many military vehicle legends of WWII including: Shermans, crocodiles, T-34's, halftracks, halftracks and more halftracks, Stewarts, Chafees. Autocars, ambulances, Long Toms, deuce and a half, Opels, Hetzer, weasels, Bofors, high speed tractors, Hellcats and a "hell of a lot" more. This is an armor modeler's dream come true. This collection is so incredible even aircraft modelers will have a great time.
Your tour guide will be Roger Condron, the restorer and curator of this private collection. Roger is a one-man preservation and restoration "machine" - having personally restored nearly half of the vehicles in the collection. He is a walking encyclopedia of vehicle restoration and operation and has probably seen more WWII halftracks than Diamond-T. The guided group tour will be followed by at least an hour of picture taking time to roam the collection and get those coveted close-ups.
Space is limited to 40 people so, reserve your place today by sending a check or money order to IPMSSLC for 30 dollars. Attendees will be bussed to and from the site and no private vehicles will be allowed at the collection. This is a truly unique privilege and this type access is rare. The collection is never open to the public and tours are by invitation only. So, don't delay and get you check in today. The deadline for tour registration and payment is Friday April 4, 2008. In the event enough people do not register by the deadline, payments will be refunded. Payments can sent to IPMSSLC c/o Mike Sanches, 74 West Girard Avenue, Salt Lake City, Utah 84103. Inquiries can be also made to Mike at mike@modelerchannel.com.
Details of where the tour group will meet and time of departure will follow.
